Epiphone Releases 50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul Limited Edition

Epiphone announced the release of the Limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul Standard guitar, one of the most desirable guitars on the planet. The Les Paul model guitar is worshiped by players and sought by collectors everywhere as the “Holy Grail” of vintage instruments. Even within that short three-year time span, however, this legendary rock icon experienced a subtle evolution of specs and features. Epiphone’s Ltd Edition 50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul Standard comes in two distinct variations, therefore, to represent two equally beloved formats of this great guitar within the same year.
Version 1 depicts the early 1960 Les Paul Standard, which mostly carried over the specs of the 1959 Les Paul Standard. As such, it has the’50s rounded “D” neck profile that so many players love on the ‘59 ‘Burst that preceded it, and is finished in Heritage Cherry Sunburst. Made in the image of Les Paul Standards from later that same year, Version 3 has the SlimTaper™ “D” profile that Gibso… Epiphone Releases 50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul Limited Edition

Lester’s Guitar Design Such a Classic?

Why do I prefer a Gibson Les Paul?I prefer the aesthetics of Gibson, and their ergonomics.Aesthetics are found in things like the body shape and size and contours: the fretboard bindings, fretboard inlays, the tulip pegs. The Gibson vibe is classy, and elegant. I’ll come back to this later.Mostly, it's a “feel” thing, and I love the way a Les Paul feels. When I get the strap length just right, I love how it hangs on my shoulder, and how it presents itself to my hands. I love how the string plane is up off the face of the guitar — makes it easier for me to dig in. And my right hand can rest on the perfect height of that tune-o-matic bridge, with the strings falling away towards the tailpiece, or curl my picking hand down around the bottom of the string plane, without a volume knob getting in the way. (Not great technique, I know, but I’m a leftie playing right-handed, so something had to give, and it’s my picking style, known as West Toronto Brutal Make-Do.) I always remove Gibson … Lester’s Guitar Design Such a Classic?

Left Handed Gibson Guitars for Southpaws

Left handed Gibson Guitars are available at a great new internet shopping site dedicated to Left handed Gibson. This is good news for the southpaw who wants a great selection to choose from without having to sift through hundreds of products only o find a select few that meets his needs.Only a small percentage of people are left-handed, so it would make sense for internet stores to cater mostly to right-handed people. Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Mfg. Co, Ltd. was incorporated in 1902 and is responsible for many innovations in banjo, guitar and mandolin design. During the 1950s, Gibson came out with the “Les Paul” which was available in several models including the Custom, the Standard, the Special and the Junior. Gibson Dark Tiger The World’s Most Advanced Guitar

Is this “The World’s Most Advanced Guitar”? Gibson certainly thinks so, and going on the amount of tech squeezed into the Les Paul-shaped body of the Dusk Tiger, it just might be true.First, the body. It might look like a Les Paul, but the top is flat, not contoured, and the mahogany back of the marblewood body covers a chambered interior which reduces weight and tweaks tonality. The neck is pretty standard, made from mahogany and featuring tiger-tooth shaped markers on the fretboard. But let’s get to the real meat, which is inside the guitar. This thing has enough gadgetry to put a tin-can of people up on the Moon. The tuning keys are smaller versions of Gibson’s “Robot Tuners”, and can quickly switch between various alternate tunings on-the-fly, or just tune the guitar for you (500 times on a single battery charge). The bridge is pretty much a standard Tune-o-Matic bridge, but incorporates a piezo pickup into each saddle, and has separate outputs for all six strings. God know what kin… Gibson Dark Tiger The World’s Most Advanced Guitar

This is a real gem.  For those of you unfamiliar with the name Samick, they are one of the largest manufactures of guitars in the world.  If you own a guitar made in Korea the odds are it was made by Samick, regardless of the name on the guitar.  They also have factories in several other eastern countries (but not China).  In fact, if you own a Korean Epiphone Les Paul... well, you get the idea.

97 Model I believe, top is green sparkle so I don't really know what's underneath. But I love the green sparkle finish, it's cool if maybe a little gay.
Standard LP controls and pickup configuration
old style LP type tuners - not that great but ok. They look cool but are kinda mediocre quality.

Sounds pretty good to me. Having owned both this and the AV-3 LP copy by Samick, I think the materials and workmanship are a little better on this one. The only edge I'd give to the AV-3 was that it had more mass and was heavier, and maybe had a little more sustain. However I had to pot the pickups on the AV-3 so the LS-450 wins because you don't have to pot the pickups :)

I think either Samick LP copy is somewhere within 70-90% of a real Les Paul sound-wise. Enou… Product: Review Samick LS-450 Artist

This is an update to my 2000 review of my Samick Artist series LP. I have 4 guitars now. Fender Tele Thinline (hot customized - voodoo pups), 2005 Samick AV4, A very hot custom strat (also voodoo pups, and a 2005 Gibson 333. I still love my LP 450. I upgrade the bridge pup (5 years later). I now have a bright Dimarzio bucker in the bridge. Just what I needed. 10 for all the features my guitar already had andI still love. samick lp-450
